Life on Amherst Island

Community

Amherst Island is home to families who have been here for generations and people who have only just arrived; year-round residents and those who return each summer. They meet in the ferry line and at the farmers’ market, wave as they pass on the road, and run into one another on dump days, at the beach, and at community gatherings throughout the year.

There is room for what you can bring

Some people organize a concert. Some wash dishes, read the weather, coach a team, tend a garden, serve on a board, or notice that the chairs need putting away. All of it counts.
